They finally caught (and killed) a rabbit. Not a mark on it though, so either it ran into something and broke it’s neck or they scared it to death. We couldn’t see because it was dark out - we let them out for their last outing of the night and they took off into a dark corner of the yard. We heard a squeal and went to see ... Now they fancy themselves BIG hunters, LOL.

I knew it, they caught the rabbit was my first thought. I understand how please they are with themselves. Poor rabbit, I hope it was quick.

Brooks came pretty close to catching one this past Saturday. He'll be pretty jealous that a couple girls beat him to it!!!

Thor isn't interested in rabbits, but oh boy does he want to catch a bird. Or a helicopter. The fact that they are flying far above his head does little to deter him.
Thing we were warned of when getting our first lab, having rabbits as pets. Was told they could be scared to death.

Abby in her prime was like that. Chasing after rabbits, squirrels, etc. She sleeps all day now, but gets up when I'm pulling in the drive and acts like she is chasing away a cow on the other side of the pasture. The days of chasing stuff is about 1x now around the yard, then lie down. Used to run for miles along side me riding a bike. The good ol' days. I'm just glad she's still sharp at 9 yrs old and can get up to do a lap around the yard at times. Cherish the moments of all that energy and youth.

Very well said....Cherish all of those moments of energy and youth. This is what a Lab lives for...chasing balls, rabbits, chipmunks and squirrels. My Toby always did the same. One time while chasing a squirrel, he crashed into my neighbors fence! He was fine, but the vinyl fence, not so much! Gotta love a Lab!!!!
