Oh, no.....so sorry.....bless your heart for taking care of him & giving him your love in the brief time you had him! Could you possibly tell the "owners" that you fell in love with him during the short time you had him, & if they ever decide they aren't the "right home" for him, that they can call you?

DH hinted that at them and told them all the progress we made with him in a short while. They did offer to pay for his vet expenses we incurred, but his health and well being is what is important. I only hope they treat him as a family member and not a lawn ornament. I am sure he will be on the run again. I'm secretly hoping he makes his way here, and if so, I will plead the 5th :-)
That dog BELONGS at your house, not the 'owners'!!! I too hope he 'escapes' again and finds his way to a real, loving home (yours).

OH no I can't believe they picked him up as a stray and have never had him vetted. That is a shame hopefully they will take better care of him and are not going to use him to make money. I might be inclined to call your local shelter and ask for a wellness check, you can do it anonymously if needed.
