    Happy 10th Dakota!!!!!!

    Dakota turns 10!!!!!

    It started with a phone call to my husband one day : " We need a dog. 2 dogs actually. Labs. Black Labs I would like." He said no. Maybe 1 dog..maybe a Golden Retriever.....I said I want 2 Black Labs. He being somewhat afraid of dogs didn't want a black dog ( scared him more I guess) So after back & forth a bit we ended up searching for a yellow lab & that's how Montana came to be my love. Then my husband realized I was right-he needed a friend so off we went looking for another Lab. We drove 2 hours away to the mountains pulled into a dirt lane & there we found at the end...a barrel of chocolate puppies. O. M. G. Dakota looked up at him with "those eyes of hers" as we say & he said to me she's the one look at those eyes. I nearly fell into the barrel once our eyes met and its been true love since. This girl is my darling. From day one she chose me. Me. Not my husband ( like Montana who was supposed to be MINE lol)_ she chose ME. Over anyone else in the world-she still chooses me and I love her from the tip of her nose to the tip of her tail. This sweet sweet girl who I've seen have seizures ( she literally came to me, put her paw on me and proceeded to fall on her side in a seizure) This sweet girl who had Lymes like 3 times & I worried so much about her kidneys & liver....this sweet girl ...who I love so much.
    This morning I was getting ready for work in the bathroom. She came in and sat so sweetly, ears back, giving me those eyes of hers as if something was wrong. I discovered she'd opened my closet door & taken a slipper of mine to play with. But in the process she knocked over a small box and probably figured she may be in trouble or it scared her. See how darling she is? I gave her the other slipper & she took off happily playing.
    It sounds silly but that dog & I have been out in the worst of weather when she's had her diarrhea issues. Hurricane, blizzards, pouring rain, subzero weather. the worst being this past winter wind driven snow in like -20...and I'd never leave her side. Because I know she'd never leave mine. During 2 hurricanes that dog has laid next to me sleeping so calmly-and that my friends calmed me.
    From the moment I held her in my arms she has known I would never let anything hurt her. We took her home on my birthday. My husband said she wasn't my birthday present but she really was.
