We have walked in all kinds of weather, snow, wind, blizzard, cold, ice. To be honest, now that he is older, I am most scared of ice. We still do walk, slowly and carefully.

At 10 years old I don't think he needs some crazy exercise, I'd walk him for 30 minutes, if he can run then you can run, you'll warm up too

Actually...I should add....we're still getting walks, too. Just not the regular ones. We've swapped the morning walk for staying on our street [usually just Sunnie...Dan declines to go (he has a potty trip under the deck after breakfast so he's already empty)]. But we go out in the afternoon when it's not as bad for about 1/2 mile.

If the weather isn't a concern, our walks are basically about 1/2 mile in the morning and another 1/2 mile in the afternoon (Sunnie's not as good with longer walks anymore and Dan really never has liked walks unless he's able to be off leash), so this weather hasn't really impacted on us all that much. The worst part has been salt on the ground, honestly.

These guys get their best exercise chasing each other from room to room around the house (circling around the stairway in the middle of the house). Since Sunnie's been on Rimadyl, she's a lot more interested in acting like a puppy as much as she can. Whatever works....

    Mental exercise

But on my front, Winter Rocky is back, so he's actually been walking more haha (which isn't saying much big picture as his walks are 10-15 mins, but more for HIM and more often each day). I've never really stopped exercise in the cold with my dogs as I've always had "winter" dogs.

It is getting to the low -20's (F) in the morning

We've been playing fetch in the yard. Archie doesn't seem to mind the cold at all so long as we don't have strong gusts. He loves snow which is awesome! But I'm suppose to be working on his leash walking and is not happening! But today I'm gonna have to suck it up and take him for a walk [emoji31]

Hemi really likes it. I had to work with him a bit at first cause he wanted to just brute force it. But I showed him how to work the different puzzles. I laughed at him at lunch today. I got the mat out. Went to go get the treats came back and Hemi had spread it all put and proceeded to take the dowel rod put of the one pouch and opened it up then looked at me like, dad it's empty that's no fun. So he got a free treat while I loaded the whole thing up.

This is us too - bundle up and go out no matter what the weather. Ice though is the one thing that I don't care to go out on, but it's actually been too cold here lately for that since the couple inches of snow never melted. If the streets/sidewalks do get icy then we play fetch in the yard, which usually doesn't get that bad.

Our dogs continue to swim as long as the lake isn't frozen - if it is, then we toss bumpers along the shore for them instead, but they still get their regular outings. Now that said, we live in NJ where a cold day is single digits with wind chills in the low negatives. I have a friend from Calgary and it was -40F there the other day ... ain't NO ONE going out in that!

I have a 4.5 year old and a 1 year old. We've been below zero that past few days but it's finally warming up. They are pretty big sleepers during the day so we didn't have to entertain them then. Most of the sidewalks around here are filled with salt, ugh, so haven't been walking much. Need a good rain to clear that off! They would have a big play session outside together around 3:30p...and then again after dinner around 5:30p. Just when you think they are settling down for the evening, Mayson, the 1 year old, has been getting EPIC zoomies around 7/7:30p.

Thankfully today is warm enough that they are going back to doggy day care to get their play on!!!

Love that mat idea! And I've been looking for a good (indestructible!) kibble ball dispenser. Anyone have recommendations? I might honestly bite the bullet and buy some dog booties since it does seem to be his paws that bother him the most on walks.

For the Kong wobbler, does anyone know if Fromm kibble will fit through the hole?
