Honestly, I’d just scour garage sales for a rocking chair or loveseat. We picked a rocking chair up for ~$20 and it’s Ben’s chair now—but the platform idea is great! I’m just not handy at all haha.

Navigating a rocking chair is going to put unnatural stress on a dog's joints.

So I was browsing around today and found out that dog sofas are a thing. I think I might have found the answer.

Love the doggy sofa!!! I ordered a L shaped sectional that on the smaller portion had a section of 3' with no back. Perfect spot by the window so Samson could look out. He loves it. Sometimes when I pull in from the east side, he doesn't hear me and I get to see him sleeping. And when I leave, he is looking at me and I wave bye. He even watches me pull out and drive away. I love it. :-)

I found easy plans for a place table on the net and built this one for Cassie.

I bought a half sheet of plywood from Home Depot and had them cut it to the proper size. My skills with a hand saw prevent me from cutting anything remotely resembling a straight line. They cut it for free. The elbows came from amazon. Under the plywood, the pvc looks just like the frame sitting on the ground so you can just lift the plywood top off and move it easily. You could customize the size of this to meet whatever space you wanted to create for window viewing.

So I wanted to order some toys from chewy.com (the JW Holee roller) because they were cheap and Thor’s favorite, so I started poking around the website for things we might want to get us over the free shipping number. I ended up finding a $20 cooling platform bed. We’ll try this out for a while. He seems to like it, he curled up on the pad before I even put it together.

(The toy, his favorite treat dispensing one)

    Ok, this might work.

    Whatever zzzz.

What was that, a dog barking 1/2 mile away?

Sorry to say let me know when that one breaks. LOL Hemi went through 3 of them as those little metal legs break off with an exuberant lab. And well Thor is an Exhuberant Lab. If you want something like that I have full instructions on a design you can build yourself. weather proof water proof, Hemi proof. Hemi tested the design several times and 3 revisions were made to it. There is more to it than what you see as there are wooden dowel rod in the center of the PVC and so on. However you can build them for about 30$ a bed. I try to make half dozen a year and give to shelters. We have donated some to auctions for dogs and so on, each one went for over $200 to exuberant lab owners. We do purchase the Coolaroo replacement beds, that way I do not have to mess around sewing anything.

Mine are all thoroughly Lab Tested during all stages of assembly.

They do appear to meet all creature comforts including gather all your toys in a pile and rolling in them.

And like I said cheap enough to be made to go anywhere. He has one for the RV as well we take camping. Hemi actually has 4 of them. 1 in the house, 1 in the RV, 1 on the deck, and one in the garage that can be thrown in the back of the truck to go traveling.

Love it! I figure I'll see if he likes the height and the space, and I can always modify it if (when) it breaks. Especially once we have two of them here (labs, not beds).

Yeah that's one of the things I do and planned for you can actually put on longer legs. Not too long but they are longer than the original metal ones.
