Neat idea but I can see some dogs with undiagnosed dysplasias starting to show signs of the problems shortly after starting that.

Interesting- that's in my home town! Wonder if I could sneak up to one of the classes without some sort of secret alarm going off at my mother's house, notifying her I was in town but not visiting HER?

I'd be very reluctant to add weights in vest as I think it would put extra strain on their joints.

When Chloe was going through P/T we did eventually strap weights to her bad leg, but it was done under supervision after she had already progressed to a certain point - it shouldn’t be a first step. There are several canine fitness programs around here - one is run by a canine rehab specialist who started out (years ago) doing human P/T, another is run by a local vet who competes with her dogs and became certified in canine rehab a couple of years ago.

The first one offers an on-line version as well, but someone I know who tried it said they didn’t care for it because the woman, while wonderful in working with the dogs was apparently not as good at actually explaining how to do it yourself. I haven’t tried it myself though.

According to Chloe’s rehab vet, her daily exercise (running, swimming, etc) has her in better shape than most of the other dogs they see, so I haven’t felt like my dogs would really benefit from something like this.
