Euthanasia drug found in wet dog food

    FYI..

There's been a few stories on the news over the last couple days regarding Pentobarbital being found in some wet dog food. It seems from the family of Smuckers/Big Heart Brands/Gravy Train...It is supposedly from euthanized animals (dogs, cats, horses) being used to make dog food, which is illegal.

Yikes! This is worse than salmonella! Imagine feeding your dog dead cats, dogs and horses, yikes!

This is horrible. I had no idea companies would even think of doing something like that. And for those places euthanizing animals and selling? the bodies? How horrible!!!

It's typically not the food company but the place they source their meat from or the company that actually manufactures the food. Invariably it does become the responsibility of the food company to make sure they are doing business with reputable companies, but sadly, I am sure corners are cut in one place or another BEFORE they find out and the SH*T hits the fan.
