      Dirty, Rotten, Stinking Dog Again

Boy, I sure got a work out yesterday. The elevated heart rate was not just from all the extra running up and down hills ( covered with snow on top of ice on the nearly completely healed ankle that I broke in this same place 3.5 months ago) but because Oban took off and I could not find him. Thankfully the people with the dog he really liked had their cell phone and looked after him - took him home with them. They were calling for me and I was whistling for Oban but we could not hear each other. I bet Mr. Dirty Rotten Stinkin Dog could hear the whistle though.

They didn't call me till they got home, guess they did not look at his collar closely till then. I am SO GRATEFUL they took care of him and did not simply leave him to run loose in a strange place.

Oban and I were both so pooped we crashed on the chesterfield together when we got back home.

I'm glad he's OK. I think by now you need to copyright your subject title.

      Kudos to those nice folks.

      Is your ankle feeling OK?

What! Oban, you are way too old to be playing such silly puppy pranks on Mom! Any time Kimber was "lost" for more than a minute had my stomach dropping and my heart racing. So glad Oban ran into Good Samaritans and that you didn't re-injure your ankle!

OMG, what a scare!!! I can't imagine the panic before those nice people called you. I'm so happy he's safe and back home.

Glad he’s okay - that would have been terrifying!! And if they were like me, they probably couldn’t make out the small print on his tag without reading glasses (which I don’t typically carry with me on dog outings).

      Oban, I'm shocked!

That would be terrifying, I agree! You probably felt like you were running just standing still.

Not being able to see the tag is one reason I use the collars I do, so a potential rescuer doesn't have to look for the tags or even touch the dog if they don't want to!

Oban quit scaring everyone like that. When our dogs run off and they do not come right back AND you can not find them, your heart just sinks and panic sets in. Last summer Gabe pushed thru a door I opened only a few inches and ran off chasing six young deer and he did not have his collar on because I remove it when he is in the house. I drove around calling his name for 35 minutes and finally decided to come home and call the police to see if anyone found him. He was laying down in the middle of my driveway when I got there and praised him for coming home on his own. I never thought he would do that.

So glad Oban is home and safe.

I was probably a bit lax with him yesterday. He'd been sick all night, vomitting and fire hose poop, so he had very little to eat that morning. I carry treats so I figured he'd be starving and stay close so did not watch him closely. His Vet wants us to try going back to raw food and it may have been a raw meal he had, but that was the night previous, so maybe not. A bit of a mystery. He is ok today, not even seeming sore from his extra running around. Of course he got a ride with the nice people to my car while I had to hoof it back.

@Sundance. My ankle, I had PT this morning and told the therapist about my day. She'd already said if I try to start running again to run 30 seconds and walk 4.5 minutes. Nope, didn't follow that at all yesterday. And I felt fine and still do. The bone is healed but the ankle does not move like it used to but is much better now. PT says she thinks one more session in two weeks and she expects I'll be good to go. Apparently when you don't bend and flex parts of you that were not broken at all forget how to move after only a short time of restricted use. I am back skating and was amazed how weak my legs were, both of them, the first time out.
