Good chance it'll save the lives of others if, as I suspect, their pharmacy staff gets a good talking-to.
Last night I took my senior cat in for a check-up and while I was there the vet asked me how Ram was doing. I said he was doing OK and I mentioned that he wasn't doing the stairs anymore. She asked me if I was still giving him Metacam and I said yes but I only give it to him once a day because it's expensive and I don't think he needs that much, even though the instructions on my second last refill said to give it to him twice a day. Her response was WHAT?, METACAM IS NEVER GIVEN TWICE A DAY!!
She saw a copy of the label in the computer that was printed and I could tell that she was freaking out on the inside. She thanked me five times for letting her know. Judging by her reaction I think it could have been a really bad situation for Ram. When she calls me today with Snow's blood and urine results I'm going to ask her what would have happened to Ram. Being cheap may have saved his life.

My vet has two techs recheck the instructions and amount for meds. So glad you are frugal and well as smart!

When my vet gives a prescription I always check the dosage online (as well as side effects to watch for). I am really paranoid when it comes to medication.

I would ask the clinic to run bloodwork on Ram asap to check his liver especially, if he has damage to his liver, the clinic is responsible. Follow through with this, and make the clinic take responsibility for the error on the label of the metacam. Although I am certain they didn't mean to cause harm to Ram medication errors are serious. If they balk, in the slightest, follow up with their governing body and make sure you have a (incorrect) label with you.
I hope that Ram is OK, and I am fussing over nothing, but the bloodwork will answer that.
Grateful you were being cheap.
WOW! wow. really awesome you did it right despite the bad info.

What luck that just came up in conversation. According to this link toxicity takes more than double the dose but there are always exceptions. Did you extremely carefully check what you were told for Snowie too? Mistakes can happen and they aren't always dosage intstuctions. I've come home with wrong post surgery care instructions.

Scary! So glad to came up and was caught.
Being a single person vet clinic, my vet prints out all the prescriptions labels herself along with going over the instructions with me. Hopefully, that catches any problems.
