I think that would be wonderful for ALL of us!!!
I didn't wait very long...about 2 months, and for several reasons. The first reason was, I couldn't bear home without a big dog presence. It felt very very empty here. And I found that Miley, my chi, was becoming more and more clingy as time went by from losing Max. I changed breeds, tho. Max was my <3 dog. We were together for 12 years, he saw me thru the hardest of times, a divorce, and the loss of both of my parents, so Max will be, always and forever, my only Golden boy. So I changed from a Golden to a Lab, hoping it would help me to NOT make comparisons and hold the puppy up to the example of my <3 dog, Max. And now with spring coming on, I'm glad I got Moose when I did. The cold weather made house training a bit more difficult, but we had lots of intense time inside thru the baby stage, the crocopup stage, and I think that was a benefit to us both. We've always had a cushioned-back-up dog until Dana died quite suddenly and we were dog-less in our house for the first time in 30-some years. Within 7 days Zoe flew to us from a breeder in Ontario, to join us and a family member's Labs.
You'll know when the time is right for you...
My first time around losing a dog was losing Montana. Thank God I had Dakota to lean on. Literally. Then before she even began to fall ill I brought China home knowing something was about to happen just not what. Then we lost Dakota. I just cant not have a dog in my house | life. I will adopt from the local shelter if I find myself near to being without a dog.
