    I Need Dog

LOL, a man was standing by his car in the parking lot as we ended our walk this morning, clearly he was hoping to meet Oban so of course I obliged. The title is what he said when I apologized after Oban shook cold, cold water all over him. At least it was clean water, Oban took a dip in the creek just before we reached the man. The man said he'd lost his Border Collie last November and needed some dog to pet and hug. And he did hug Oban and got himself even wetter. What a nice man.

While the man and I chatted it started to snow. There was still enough snow in the bush to allow me to walk right over slash and get down along the water's edge on the crust that still holds me up, to take pictures for a photo course I'm taking.

Oban and I had a bit of a scary incident too. Oban went in the water off the ice but swam over to a place he could not get back out of. He'd break the ice and try to heave himself up but the ice kept breaking under him. He was starting to get a bit worried, he was whimpering. I walked to a better place for him and he swam that way but it didn't work so I headed out and went through on my left leg. Fortunately just as I did Mr. Oban did manage to heave himself out. Whew. This was before we got to the geese, just so you know I did not let my dog harass them.

This really is not a good photo, course wise. I'm learning the aperture and other settings and it's over exposed. But, heck, I like it anyway. Those are downhill ski runs in the background.

This cropped out better than I expected it would. Two Canada Geese.

Awww ... that’s sweet that Oban could comfort the man. And scary about the ice - I never let mine go out when they have to past more than a couple feet of ice from the bank because I am afraid of that same thing happening!

Such a sweet gift you and Oban gave that man. Scary about the ice. Glad he could finally get himself out.

Just so you all know I'm not a complete idiot. The water was deep enough for Oban to swim but shallow enough for him to walk out and shallow enough for me to wade through, even where he swam. I did not move to help him till I saw he was getting worried. If he couldn't have put his hind feet on ground underneath I doubt he would have been able to heave himself out like he did. There were SUPER ZOOMIES after he got out. I will be more careful though, it's not nice seeing your dog scared.

I know you do. If we were closer I'd bring Oban over. I'd even leave him dirty as heck, as well as soaking wet, if it would make you feel better.

LOL everyone keeps offering dirty stinky dogs, or annoying busy body pupppies or annoying jerky dogs
I have two pups coming over Saturday for most of the afternoon and that could be interesting (one is a foster and she is super shy so it could go badly - which is why they are leaving one of their dogs to maybe help). not puppies in baby sense. The foster is 6-7 months and their dog is 5.
