    Old Dog Privileges time.

Brings a tear to my eye thinking of the three times I have gone through it. The hard and fast rules of the past years are all flexible now. Those table scraps they were never allowed to have, and they never even thought of begging for? They get some in their dish now. Being a bit more attentive, kind of like a pup, to when they have to go out. Accepting that there will be more blanket time now than run like a nut time. They get to have a ‘special inside bone’ now also. Something forbidden for most of their life, is now acceptable. I never minded a bit when the time came that they needed to be lifted in and out of the vehicle. Time to spoil them a little for bringing all the joy that they have for all those years.

I make the most of what time we have left together, denying them little. Remember, God made their lives shorter so we get to share part of our life with several of them. As much as it hurt to dig that last hole, or any of them, I look forward to putting myself through it all again.
