    Back to NILF.

Unbelievable. Zo is almost ten and she started peeing in the house.

For the last few months, my husband has been exclusively at home. He likes to feed the dogs and treats them throughout the day. Nikki can't take the stairs anymore and Zo likes to be on hand for any snacky stuff and rarely comes upstairs during the day. Since the temperature started to go up, we put AC units in the living room and bedroom. I'm a napper, not really a sleeper so if I went upstairs during the day, I started closing the door to keep the room cooler.

Zo was having none of it. Apparently her brief trips to check on me had been thwarted so she objected. By squatting in front of my husband and letting loose watching him the entire time. For the better part of a week. He started to get really upset.

Fortunately he went to a conference. I had to potty train Zo all over again. Because then she started doing it with me while she was in the bedroom with me. I think even she was confused about why she was doing it. She would look around while she was doing it then get up and head for the door kind of like, "Wait a minute. I got what I wanted. Why am I doing this?"

So yeah. Now she doesn't eat until she pees outside first. He comes home tomorrow. Wish us luck!

Have you taken this dog to the vet? She may have a medical condition, esp if it just started out of the blue.

Yes. There was nothing to indicate that it was anything but behavioral.

She's over it now. Zo is one of those dogs who suddenly decides to test us, especially my husband. She'll suddenly start pulling on lead or decide to stop going in her crate or she'll start picking the green beans out of her food. We can tell when she's mad about something when she stops being affectionate and starts this kind of thing. NILF is the best way to go. Our holistic vet once said that she has multiple personalities.
