    Ferris is graduating!!

I'm not much on the board these days, but wanted to pop in to tell you that Ferris completed his training at Guide Dogs of America and has been matched! We turned him in for formal training on January 27th, 2018, and he was matched a couple weeks ago. (There are apartments on the GDA campus, so students live there for several weeks while they're bonding/training with their guide.) He graduates with his partner this Saturday!!

We are so thrilled. He is the sweetest boy, and I can't wait to meet his person. It's a childhood dream come true for me to raise a guide dog.

And Miss Vivian (guide dog puppy number two) is now six months old and progressing nicely. She is more intense and work-focused than Ferris is -- it's fun to have such a different dog to train.

Thanks. Yes, it was definitely an emotional day when we turned him in for training! But, we knew from the day we picked him up that he wasn't ours. And to have started him on this amazing journey is really special. It also helps that we got Vivian less than a month after we dropped Ferris off!

What a day for you, sad but wonderful too. Thank you for devoting such love to Ferris, and to a person you hadn't even met yet.
