Our neighbors recently adopted two kittens, they feed them grain free food, and man do their poo's stink, they seem to be thin and will go after treats like they are raw meat. I told her she needs to look in to feeding them something else but not sure if they will.

I think feeding cats is a little different than dogs with regard to taurine in their diets. I think I've read most dogs can metabolize taurine from other stuff they eat, so in theory could be fed a vegetarian diet, but cats are obligate carnivores and must eat foods containing taurine. I don't have cats so I don't look too much at whether grain-free is good or not good, I just know they need meat, even if it's meat-based kibble. But there's certainly dog foods that seem to result in smelly poops, too! I thought that additive yucca schidigera extract was supposed to help decrease dog poop odor. Yeah, I knew I didn't dream that: Yucca Schidigera Extract - Fromm Family Foods

Interesting to think about. It is good to know just in case to prevent something later so thanks!
