It's food.. For a while it was the ball, but with Sprockette's arthritic knee we had to stop playing fetch. She took fetch really seriously. Now it's just food, any food.

Food. Anything will suffice. Believe it or not a top drool inducing treat is Brussel sprouts

Depends where we are. Inside the house, food and praise. Outside a chase after the ball and praise. Play with me works to some degree wherever we are.

Rocky - Food. only food. more food. FOOOOOD!

Penny - depends on situation. in quieter settings she was happy with food. But if she was fetching then she wouldn't take food, she wanted more throwing. And she could really want to tug at other times.i found affection was always abit of a "meh" reward for either. nice and all but not really high value.

Katie says bring on the food! For the ultimate recall I bend down and give her a smile and she turns into a complete puppy, grin and all, running to me.

Used to be food and toys. Now that she is 2 more and more see that she just wants to be with people and mostly me/my wife or kids. I used to train with food then i started doing remote off leash training food became a problem as i cannot run to give a treat when she is 50 yards . Then on TV show on mal training and one guy used a ball for this. So i started throwing the ball when she does remote sit / stay / down and the Stop with hands up to hit the deck fast for emergencies.

Now i train her with no balls or treats. She does anything for just hanging out with us or be around us. She is motivated by treats and toys but nothing like hanging out with us. She wants to be hugged by ONLY by my kids for reason. She is not a hug-ger and even me and my wife are not allowed. She has developed alot quirks. She will lay on my wifes lap in the evening before bed and take her bully stick from her . Only those count btw. If i give her one she will eat it and then want my wife do her nightly thing.
