    Lab vs. Griff

Our lab litter is basically gone. All the boys went home, and the girl is still here until the 27th when her dad is done with his last business trip.
She's a little Tickle clone with just a bit of Jed around the eyes.

If we had had a chocolate girl, I would have definitely kept a puppy.
And if getting a griff had timed out differently, I might have kept one.
Fortunately Pearl is staying in Colorado Springs with me as a co-owner just in case she grows up nicer than Tickle! Always the hope!

But we had put a deposit down on a griff from a breeder in CA a few weeks after Wrigley passed.
Of course the moms I was interested in decided to come into season just when Tickle did.
It timed out that just as the labs went home, the griff would be ready too.

Even though I raised Tickle and Wrigley together I wanted to just raise ONE this time.
10 more sleeps until I get to fly to CA. We are down to splitting hairs over a few of the girls...but I am hoping this is her. I've been pretty clear I want her.

I'll introduce her once we are home for good!

Oh gosh, is she adorable! What characteristics drew you to this one? Ten more sleeps- not that you're counting!

I saw a guy walking into Home Depot the other day with an adult dog that I thought might be a griff but I'd never seen on in the flesh before. I asked if the dog was a WPG and he seemed either surprised or too busy to be interrupted by some nosy Nellie, who knows, but yes, yes it was. He was larger than I'd envisioned them to be but what other dog looks like a griff?

I hope you get your girl Jen! Will the evaluations be done before you pick her up? I had my eye on a couple of those girls, some really neat markings on them too.

I almost did two again at the same time, but so glad that I did not, it is so much harder. This time I get to concentrate on one puppy, and so do you. Your Griff will be a good age by the time you breed Tickle to Jagger and the pups are 8 weeks, that you will be ready for a puppy again.

The breeder did his first eval at 7 weeks. Between coats, markings, temperament and conformation, he weeded a few out immediately. One too small and coat's all wrong. One is way too timid. One too hocky. One while looked good conformation-wise now, was just a HUGE puppy that he feared she grown out of standard (which is something the dam has thrown in the past and a problem in the breed). So out of the 2 remaining ones, I prefer no markings on the body, I was drawn to Kahlua. Also in all the stacked shots I saw, she seemed to be the puppy that more comfortably stood in a stacked position. She was pretty fearless in videos and responded well to toys and calling her. she wasn't my initial pick but once she was old enough my eyes never left her photos. So what the heck, she's mine.
