Mac - half a happy birthday

I'm really sorry to hear this. I hope Mac heals quickly, both physically and emotionally. My chocolate boy was bitten badly at a show a few years ago, and I wanted to make sure to get him back out as soon as he was physically able to get some good dog-to-dog experiences under his belt again. I almost worry more about the emotional effects on a dog -- especially a youngster, after an event like this. Sending healing thoughts and well-wishes to your boy.

Oh my gosh Mike. I fear this type of thing is all of or collective nightmares for our dogs, especially a youngster.

I echo everyone else in wishing MAC a quick recovery, both physically and emotionally. This kind of event can ruin a young dog, that doesn't have enough positive life experiences to shake it off, and realize this is not the norm. His breeding, temperament, and your expert guidance should help see him through, and he has been fortunate to be around other stable dogs in his short life so far.
My thoughts are with you both, how absolutely terrifying.

I was attacked by a pit bull mix while out with my high school boyfriend's dog many (too many to admit here) years ago, my boyfriend's dog was a small terrier mix, and I foolishly raised him over my head to protect him from the attack. I started screaming, yelling at the dog to, go home, sit, anything I could think of while he was lunging at me. His owner finally arrived and hit him over the head with a baseball bat and took off, and I never saw them again. The police came and took a report, but no one knew him or saw where he went. Thank god I was not bitten, ... anyways, sorry, didn't mean to highjack, it just stirred up a memory. Good thoughts for MAC
