    MAC ATTACK ~ An Update.

    Aye Mates,

Let me first extend my most sincere appreciation to all that expressed their concern for MAC after the recent attack he endured by a vicious, highly aggressive, and out of control dog. Sadly this event was completely preventable were it not for the total negligence of the idiotic owner of the offending dog, he being a pathetic punk with a piss poor attitude.

I can state with complete confidence that the actions I took to protect MAC during said attack were completely instinctual, completely with regard only for MAC'S safety, and with total disregard for my own safety specific to the attacking dog. The actions I took to ward off said attack in all probability saved MAC from much more extensive injuries and perhaps a cruel and certain death. I urge you all to be on guard for the ever present threat of such attacks on your treasured K9 companions.

MAC seems to be recovering nicely from those physical injuries sustained in the attack. Having received optimal care at the skillful hands of my friend Dr. Michael Tulman, MAC'S puncture wounds were thoroughly treated and one particularly bad puncture wound was closed. Doc started MAC on a regimen of antibiotics to prevent potential infection from setting in. MAC was rather lethargic the day after the attack but has rapidly returned to his joyful self. I did take him back to the exact scene of the attack yesterday and watched him for any signs of place oriented apprehension and there was nothing obvious noted in his demeanor. Doc advised that MAC not be water worked for approximately two weeks and we will follow said doctor's orders much to MAC'S dislike as he loves any opportunity to get in the water. MAC'S very bold attitude from very early on in his development is most certainly a factor in the resilience he has demonstrated in his recovery to date. The extraneous efforts taken to highly socialize MAC to both humans and other K9's will likely minimize any long term psychological trauma for MAC resulting from this single event.

As for the abhorrent owner of the attacking dog, I don't believe he has yet realized the rising legal $h!T storm that is heading his way. I have filed a potential criminal complaint with the State Police. It was determined that the vehicle he was operating on then night of the incident had an expired registration and it was tagged for such non-compliance at his residence when the State Police were not able to make contact with him on that evening. I will be staying on top of the complaint I made with the State Police.

Our local Animal Control Officer has determined that the offending dog was in fact up to date on his rabies vaccination (that being a positive). We photo documented all of MAC's injuries on the night they were received and said photographs have been provided as photographic evidence to the investigating agencies and to my attorney for this case. Additionally I have provided photographic evidence of a sign posted at the entrance gate to the area stating that dogs must be on lead and under immediate control of the owner as per law. I also provided animal control with a measurement taken yesterday that determined the offending dog had travelled 128 yards from his owner specifically to attack my puppy MAC (my dog being on lead and under my immediate control during the onset of said attack). A running tab is being kept for all veterinary expenses specific to MAC'S treatment and there will be civil action taken for full restitution to be made by the owner of the offending dog.

It is of note that this attack did NOT take place at a dog park and that I avoid such facilities completely for their very high potential for incidents such as this one to occur. I have trained at this location on numerous occasions without any negative incidents, this highlighting the fact that these events can happen nearly anywhere.

So Mates, that is where things currently stand with this incident. I shutter at the thoughts of just how much more devastating and tragic this event may have become. I'll update again as this situation moves forward. Once again, heartfelt appreciation to all for their concern for MAC.

Glad to hear MAC is recuperating well.

I've said it before, "Some people do not deserve to have animals!" This guy needs a serious attitude adjustment and maybe the financial hit will serve as a wake up call although I'm not holding my breath. The dog hopefully will be monitored for future attacks now that ACO is aware of his actions. 128 yards is a long way for a "casual" attack. That dog was hell bent on getting MAC!

Glad to hear Mac is mending well. This attack brought so many memories back of Molly being attacked by a pit in dog training class. we had been working around this dog for over 9 months so yes it can happen anywhere.

I really hope the county takes some action on the owner of the dog that attacked Mac and am beyond grateful that you where not severely harmed and that you probably saved Macs life. Please keep us updated.

    Aye Jack,
I'm mad as a hornet and that means I will not relent legally. As for his dog, it is now on file with both local and State Canine Control. another attack by this dog will likely result in it's demise. The dog is a serious liability, something his owner is too stupid to realize. He is going to be getting a serious awakening. T'is unwise to mess with Mikey, t'is more unwise to mess with one o' Mikey's dogs.

Belly rubs noted, same back at CASSIE Mate.

Thanks for posting this update. I'm happy the little guy is bouncing around like his normal self. The thoughts of how much worse this could have been still make me sick to my stomach. Give MAC and TRAD a couple rubs from us!

So happy to hear MAC is healing and improving. Dog bite wounds can be really nasty. I shutter to think of what could have happened. Think you will understand when I say that the offending dog may have to pay the ultimate price for the stupid owner. One thing I found out (car incident with a drunk driver) was that if the offender is aware of the system and has to appear in open court on a ticket, be sure to show up and stay for the entire session. We did and when the session was just about over we left. I called to find out if a warrant had been issued and it had not - scumbag has showed up at the last minute having waited in the parking lot until she saw us leave. I'm sure with your knowledge and the legal support you have, you and MAC will prevail.

As it is often said, Don't mess with Mama or Papa when their "baby" is involved. Your restraint in the situation is admirable and serves well in your favor.

Many healing prayers and thoughts being sent to sweet MAC.

Oh my goodness...I am so sorry to hear about Mac's attack from a vicious dog!

This would be my worst nightmare...a dog coming out of nowhere to attack my dog. It has to be the absolute worse thing to watch.

I'm very happy to hear that Mac in on the mend....knowing that the result could have been so much worse.

The owner of the other dog needs to be held accountable and I hope you can seek some justice for your dear Mac.

    Sending healing thoughts and prayers...

So glad to hear Mac is continuing to mend well.

I hope that jackbutt somehow realizes that he has inflamed the wrath of a bunch of people on your/Mac's behalf...sending every evil thought I have his way.

I'm glad you weren't physically hurt....it could have easily gone that way, too. A dog out of its mind with rage doesn't consider what it's biting. (it could already be vicious toward humans anyway)

It may not amount to much in your real world...but we've got your back!

T'is unwise to mess with Mikey, t'is more unwise to mess with one o' Mikey's dogs. Well said!!

Glad to hear Mac is on the bend physically and no lasting emotional scars. Your restraint during and after the attack along with good quick thinking saved Mac and shows your professional background came into play. Hope you go all the way to the full extent of the law with this man!

Sending lab board MOJO to help along the way.

Crazy dog attacks . I experienced recently while camping in new hamphire. Me and Gigi were walking out of a campground to a lake near by. During this time a couple with a black lab and husky came by. The black lab got out of the harness and attacked gigi. Gigi stayed by my side till the dog was like inchs and then she went on the defensive. She is bigger and does not like pushy dogs. the owners of the campground ran out to put them self in front of the dog. The lab then ran to the backyard where there husky lives and they were chasing .The couple who owned then just stood there with the quite husky. They got the boot. It baffles how you can put a dog in a harness that is too big for it to get out . Gigi also does not like goofy friendly dogs who like to be in her face. She is never off leash which is the crazy now with a shock collar. 2 week board and collar train to go off leash .

Gigi has been in 2 such incidents at dog park usually its dog owners who bring their dog out for the first time on a nice weather after months. seems its never the regular ones for some reason.

MAC healup pup.poor thing. Once gigi got bit on her back by a dog at dog park just walking. A reason she does not go there any more.
