LOL, I don't think I see mine as small. But other people's dogs sure looked bigger when Oban was a puppy than they did when I had Jet and she was adult. Except Jet, before I knew she should not ride on the front passenger seat of my car, sure looked small when she was curled up in it. I'd look at her and think, "How can you curl yourself into such a little thing?" There'd be room to spare on the seat all around her.

One thing I notice; other people's strange, loose dogs running straight at us look HUGE.

    Don't they ever.....

I tend to think of Sunnie as a good bit bigger than Danny even though only 7 lbs. separates them. I'll look down at her when she's alone and wonder where the small dog came from....and I have a couple of pictures of the two of them where Dan looks bigger than his mama.

When Danny's the only dog in sight, he sometimes looks larger. I'll actually do a "rib check" sometimes to make sure it's just my imagination working overtime.

I think Sunnie looks bigger in my sig pic than she does, relative to Dan, in person.

My girls ARE small. LOL Brandy is around 57-58 pounds and Lily is only 51-52. And Lily is short, only about 17" tall at the withers. So no, they don't look smaller to me than they are. I always get asked if they are puppies and people do a double take when I say Brandy is 9. I am having that issue with Jax though. He's 11 weeks now and I swear he doesn't look any bigger to me, but I know he is because I can feel it when I pick him up. He's so heavy!

Sort of, but I suspect it's more that I think of myself as bigger than I am (I am only 5 feet tall). I think of Chloe as a "little" girl, and she really isn't big - 22 inches and 62lbs, but when I saw a video of us working a few weeks ago, she looked huge, LOL ... either that or I looked tiny!

I think this is it- they are robust and also have such swinging bodies when they walk!! Their walk is full of excitement that one just can't help but notice them. Not to mention their ability to knock people over with their bodies - their just balls of energy.

Part of the reason we love them, I suspect.

This. Bobby walks with a swagger in his step, a giant grin and a wagging tail that is able to tip a cruise ship with just a whack.

I do see Bobby as smaller than he really is but I don't really notice it as often until I compare him to his 8 week old self. Everyone else notices how big he is though! Bobby thinks he is the size of a toy dog.

Yes, it's often a big toothy smile, a bouncing body that appears to move sideways and a big thumping wagging tail!!! How can anyone not notice them and think they are huge

Oh, and their huge personalities must account for some of the weight.

When we first got Potion I thought she was huge (at 9 years old). We had had a Dalmatian and they are so trim. Then Melody joined us and she was more robust but shorter. I got used to lab size until Archie joined us. What amazed me is that I don't have to bend over to pat his head. He's not heavier, trimmer in appearance than Mardi, just taller. Can't compare to puppy size.

I think they fit our house just right.
