No, it's not just you. Jax looks big to others but not to me. People always think he is.older than he is. I guess these are mostly "small" dog people.
Maybe it's just me.. but when I see my dogs up close they look smaller than they are. At certain angles, in pictures & from a distance I see how big they actually are.
My late Chase was over 100lbs (great dane/lab mix) & I saw him as a 80lb dog.. When people said he was huge I'd just smile because I didn't see it when they did.
Same for Lilly, she's 29.2lbs (6 mos. lab mix as well) & most of the time I see a tiny girl with itty bitty paws.
Is it just me? LOL.

I think I see Roxy as her actual size, but she sees herself as Chihuahua-sized.

My pride and joy, R.I.P.
I see my lab as in good physical shape within normal parameters.
Although I sometimes need to remind myself of this because so many people with smaller breed dogs who are not knowledgeable on labs think she is big!!!
I don't realize how big mine are until I see them next to another person.
I've got the same "problem"
I always think mine are so small until I see pictures
I remember when I first visited the breeder, all her Labs looked HUGE to me.
Now I realise Labs are a medium sized breed really. Weimaraners, Ridgbacks, Setters... they are all taller than Cookie. Labs are robust, maybe that is what makes them look bigger than they are.

They're always little puppies to me, fit to be cuddled and spoiled no matter how old and bigh they are.
But on a more serious note, they are not very big, especially girls. When they are right next to a Golden, they're definitely smaller and the ultimate chance for me to compare the sizes was when Lynn, then about eight years old, was standing next to a little ten-month-old puppy of the Irish Wolfhound - she looked like a dwarfie They may look big to someone who has a Yorkie, or a Chihuahua although it's almost (?) always the tiny little valiant creature who choses to pick a fight. The labrador retriever is simply the perfect dog: too small to be big and yet too big to be small; besides, they're just adorable

I always worry that my lab pup is small when I'm at home but then I see him next to a lab of his own age and don't know what I worry about!!
I remember when I first came to this realization. My sister had 2 labs full grown when I got Hemi. I never thought her labs were big. However, I went 2 months without actually seeing them and spending on my time with a Hemi puppy and in puppy class. First time I seen them I was like holy cow they are huge. Then I realized Hemi was going to be pretty much the same size and he is now. I have often heard comments from people like, that is one big dog. I just can't help but think, nah he is my sweet little boy.
