    Sharing a crate.

I don't normally allow my two to share a crate. Lately though they are going in together and sleeping together. Would you discourage this or since so far so good just let it be? I leave their crate doors open all day and I often find them laying together. This is the first time they ever did it in April. I discouraged it at first but now they rush in to lay together.

If I'm at home and can hear what's going on, I let them go in together. Chase isn't big on being that close, so it doesn't last long. If it's overnight or I'm not able to watch them or leaving the house, I'd separate them.

If a workman comes unexpectedly and it won't be too long a time, for convenience I sometimes put them both in the same crate for a short period of time with the door shut, as long as I can hear or see them. I never leave their collars on when they go in the crate, either alone or together, in case they decide to get feisty. If they've gone in voluntarily and they door is open so one or the other can get out as desired, I don't see a problem with it.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

That's too adorable. Don't have the answer but if you do put in separate crates, put them side by side so they can still be close.

Makes me laugh to think, I've had two seniors tuck inside the same crate and sack out.

In open crate situations or a quick gotta lock em up situation, its fine. But they both need to be comfortable in their own crates too.

I agree. I also think they are adorable together. That being said, the pup will soon go through the piranha and then the adolescent "make me" phases. You want the adults to be able to get away rather than have to defend themselves. So do crate them separately if you are closing the door, unless you are right there for just a couple minutes. I agree, no collars!
