(Dopeslap). I work on a college campus. Lots of foot traffic, not many dogs, tons of varied people. DH brought Stormy by and in 15 minutes, on a cold, drizzly day, we had 5 people stop to play with her. If it warms up a bit, we could even be comfortable while visiting!

I saw the video you posted of Stormy in the crate...I would also have a hard time listening to her cry...
May I suggest a wire crate? I feel puppies do much better in a wire crate over a plastic kennel. With a wire crate, they can see you ...and it's not so dark and confining as a kennel.
I feel it is more comforting for them.
As far as socialization, what did your breeder do? I know mine had lots of people over - men, women, children, took them to people's homes, they hung out with another litter, woods walks, stuff like that. There were like three televisions going with gun shots, fire works, stuff like that. Different footing, textures, things to go over and under. Regular car rides. If your breeder did a lot, you would just take it from there. I personally don't want people and dogs visiting much, because the point it exposure, not the pup thinking that every person and dog is a play-thing. But, that has more to do with the dog sports stuff than anything. Though, even when I was simply a pet owner, a dog that is obsessed and must see the people and dogs is annoying and my preference is that I can take my dogs to the beach off leash and they aren't all over everyone, but staying with me. So, I sit on the sidelines and let the puppy watch, reward when he looks to me, reward for a successful "leave it". I might let him go say hi, depending on the person, but no visiting other dogs on leash, especially strange dogs. I have a small circle of friends with dogs that I do things with and that's it.
You know for transporting, Hemi started day one with a seat belt system. I have always liked Kurgo Dog Travel Products Take a look through their site they were pretty modular, so basically you buy the part that goes to your seat belt clip in and then you buy the harness for the correct size. They are pretty expandable so I only needed 2 of the harnesses. Although we have gone through 3. The early ones in Hemi's life weren't crash rated, the newer ones are. Anyway Hemi has never known not to ride in a car without his seatbelt on.
