I get weekly pictures from our breeder, and I'm so excited that after many months of waiting, the sleeps are clicking down. I have first pick of the females, and the features Ill be scouting for is, smarts, and a cuddle buddy. Im making the 5+ hour trek to pick her on Dec 1, and she will come home on Dec 8th. Im reading Ian Dunbar books, and I have to tell you this potty training sounds hard! I don't remember Abbs being that hard. I guess patients is key. This pic is of the 4 girls in the litter.

TWo ten hour round trips, wow. Drive carefully, don't get distracted by puppy thoughts.

Congrats! As a fellow new puppy owner, I can say the key to housebreaking seems to be having a routine and when she’s awake, taking her out every 20-30 minutes. We picked up Stormy on Sunday and she’s already starting to understand to go to the door.

Are you talking about Ian Dunbar's Errorless Housetraining? Errorless Housetraining | Dog Star Daily
I read that, too, and tried to adhere to it for about one day and then I was thinking, gosh, I'm doing nothing but going in and out all day long. Sometimes I let it go for an hour and it would work out, other times he'd pee 15 minutes after the last pee. I still felt like I was going in and out all day long but his very specific instructions were too prescriptive for me and Henry caught on quickly regardless of my apparently haphazard method. Patience is key and just accept up front that there will be a few accidents. Our females always seemed to catch on more quickly than our boy puppies.
Twenty seven sleeps is pretty funny and I'll just say, take advantage of every minute of sleep between now and pick up day! Those little babies remind me of little chubby marshmallows!

27 sleeps is funny...I like that! You'd better hope you little bundle of love doesn't find out that you've labeled her "lunatic" (darned spellcheck won't let me spell that the way you do). She's adorable.
Pottytraining Dan was pretty much like smartrock spelled out....tiny bladder on my little mutt. We had only one accident, though, and that was because Dad told me he'd had a good pee on their potty trip and so I didn't react to being stared at 10 minutes later. Well, Bob must have been the one who took a good pee out there because Dan was full and lost it at the door as I was putting his leash on. He was mortified....at least he was calmed by my telling him it was OK. That tiny bladder actually held quite a lot.
I don't remember taking any of the Labbies out quite as much....the standard "after eating/playing/sleeping" sort of thing. Dan required a lot more. No wonder he didn't have accidents....I kept his insides dry.
(Note: I was already retired when Dan popped out....I was totally potty available. Sleep deprived, yes....but definitely on call as I thought was needed. 9 1/2 years later, Dan still goes out after meals and produces....Sunnie's a pee camel and goes out only for walkies.)
That's a bunch of cute little girls!

yes, I was talking the errorless potty training, ties the kong in the crate, all that stuff... How are you guys feeding the puppies? My breeder is doing free range, which is exact opposite of the book......
My housemate will rescue me, cause Im out of the house at 4am, and back at 1100, so her mornings............... Lets just say im going to have to be cooking dinner for a while haha.

I have 2 dogs now so Henry, the puppy, usually gets fed from his bowl. Sometimes it’s in his crate, sometimes out so both dogs are eating at the same time and I can work on training him not to rush over to Larks bowl until she’s finished. I also like to put his food into a “tricky treat “ ball but then Lark either has to be in her crate or otherwise separated and that’s not always convenient. I like using the treat ball so it takes him longer to eat and he gets some mental and physical exercise using it. For some reason my husband thinks it’s mean to put their food into a treat ball but I like the concept.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

What is your breeder doing for potty training? Presto slept through the night -- the first night he woke up at 3:30am but to be fair, he was on east coast time -- and knew to go outside when I brought him home, thanks to the breeder. He had two accidents while we tried to figure things out in a new place, I deemed him potty trained on social media at 12 weeks, he peed in the house the next day, and that was the last accident (knock on wood). I ended up just leaving the door open for the first two weeks when I was home with him so he could go out, and then I shut the door and he asked to go out from that point on. Point being, it might be easier than you think! Be prepared with a plan but also be ready to flex to the puppy's needs.
Feeding I do three meals a day. Breakfast (kibble), second breakfast (1/3 of his lunch - prepared raw ground food frozen in a Kong), lunch (two Kongs with the frozen raw), then dinner. I feed at least one meal a day in a slow bowl/feed and/or a snuffle mat/ball. Frozen Kongs, snuffles, and slow bowls are great and buying you peace and quiet for showering and house cleaning as well as quick naps.
