Puppy Diaries: Weekend edition

Because we had an out-of-state obligation this weekend, we had arranged with the breeder to take Stormy back for us for a few days. Stormy was super excited to see the breeder and her mom and dad; she went in to try and nurse and mom quickly shut that down, lol. We were a little concerned that she'd forget all about us in the 48 hours we were gone, but when we picked her up, she seemed happy to see us. The breeder said she didn't have any accidents in the house and "wow, she has a set of lungs on her."

Some Sunday-Monday milestones:

1. She's now walking down the 7 stairs to the backyard.

2. She met two neighbors, who thought she was adorable and she was super friendly with.

3. Our first neighborhood walk! We just went a block, but so many new smells and sights for her. She did surprisingly well on the leash.

4. Since we got her, she's been trying to jump up on the couches. Dogs are allowed on the couches in our house, so she was simply limited by her ability to get up there. This morning, she made it. Time to find a new place to put the remotes!

5. CRATE! I was worried we'd do some major backsliding after her slumber party at the breeder's, but I put her in at 10 pm, she only cried for a few minutes, and then she slept until 4:45! I woke up a few times expecting to hear her moving, but she was snoring away.

Working on:

1. She pooped in the house this morning. I'm still trying to get a feel for her poop schedule. Sometimes it's right after she eats, sometimes it's 30 minutes after. This morning it was 10 minutes after she ate, sigh.

2. I have to put the Bitter Apple spray on the end tables, as she's taken to gnawing on the legs. Guess we'll see if she's a lab that likes the taste, lol

All of mine seemed to think that Bitter Apple was some kind of flavor enhancer, they loved the stuff!

Try Vicks Vap-O-Rub lotion to deter chewing (not the ointment, the lotion...you'd never get the ointment off afterwards).

Macy loved the Bitter Apple, vinegar and lemon juice. Best of luck- I hope Stormy dislikes it.
