    Bo went swimming

This past weekend DH and I were going to DH's dad's house. He lives near the river. Bo has not been swimming before (at least not since we've hd him) so we decided to see what he thought of the water. We left the other two at home and gave Bo an outing all by himself. The only time he goes anywhere without the other two is to go to the vet each month for his Addison's injections, so we figured he deserved a day out with our full attention.

DH was really hoping Bo would like the water. First we just let him sniff around the yard when we got there and say hello to everyone. Then DH led Bo down the stairs to the dock. He didn't force him, just let Bo follow on his own. Then after a while just hanging out on the dock, DH got in the water. You could tell Bo wanted to jump in but just wasnt sure. DH just talked to him and encouraged him and Bo finally figured out that he could just walk down a ramp they have and get into the water. He did great! DH was right there with him, but he swam like a champ. He got out and back in by himself a couple of times. Then, he'd had enough and came back up to visit with the rest of us. Several more times he ran by himself back down to the dock just to check things out. All in all, we're considering the day a success. And Bo loved soaking up all of the pets and attention from everyone.

Bo is doing well with his Addison's Disease so far. He was diagnosed a few months ago and has been getting monthly injections. My only complaint is that I just dont feel like he has as much energy as a 2 yr old lab should have. I mentioned this to the vet when I had Hershey in the other day, and he said he would like to take a quick look at him when it's time for his next injection, which is later this week. Bo is def feeling a million times better than he did before he was diagnosed, and he looks much better too. But, as DH and I have discussed, we want him to feel the best he can. So if it's just a matter of tweaking his meds, we want to get it right. And if this is just how he's gonna be, then that's fine too. We shall see what the vet says.

Yeah Bo! You'll discover a good swim can be so much fun.

Have not had to deal with Addison's. Sending good thoughts.

    Bo's gonna love the water.

I've never dealt with Addison's either. Hope all goes well.
