Hammer seems short....

Every other Labs I have seen look way bigger than Hammer. Even the runt of his litter is bigger than him. He is 53 cm to his shoulders. I also get told by a few people that he looks too skinny but, I know Hammer is a healthy weight and eats more than enough. He just loves to run and to go on walks and play unlike their dogs that don't do anything but get let out in a yard a few times a day. How tall is your lab? Am I weird for worrying about this?

How old is he? 53cm (why are you measuring in metric if you're in the US? lol) is ~20" which is short.... male labradors should be 22-25" (including the 1/2" allowance). Is this how you're measuring him?

Unless you are showing him, why worry about it? You said he's healthy. That's all that matters. As for the skinny or not skinny debate, everyone has an opinion. Ignore them. My dogs are stockier than your dog based on the pictures -- and no it's not because they are couch potatoes, they are structurally built this way.

If your boy is healthy and able to do everything a Lab should do, then my opinion is to just be happy about that.

Really it doesn't matter! I think Emma going to be on the small side for a female shes 20.75 in and 57# at almost 9 months, but I don't care she super agile and can run circles around her bigger dog friends. She eats good and is super active and she's healthy. That's all I care about.

It sounds like you have a lighter and smaller dog, but probably nothing to worry about. If you are truly worried, have you spoken with your vet?

How old is he and is he from show lines? Dogs should be around 56-57 cm at withers, but some types of field bred variety (especially Europe) are smaller.

Hammer is 3 years and 5 months. He was bred from two of show lines. He is happy and healthy I just wondered why he was that short. I did add thst half inch (i converted to cm because most others use it xD). He is just my mini little burger. (Nickname) haha. Pics to come when im not mobile.

Most folks on this board are US, so no need to convert to metric!

Sometimes dogs (and people too) are bigger or smaller than what folks think they should be. Doesn't make a difference.

Do you know the size and height of the parents? Have you asked your breeder for her/his opinion and what the normal range for their lines are? Sometimes, it just happens. Either way, as long as he's happy, healthy and active and you are not showing him in conformation, I wouldn't worry about it and just appreciate him for who he is.
