    Don't want to hijack

Every time I see the raw-coated kibble subject line, I think of Gravy Train. Not that the quality is comparable....just the coating aspect.

When we got our first Lab Brutus, his owner told us that he didn't like to eat and so the owner kept switching food. Now....Bru weighed 120 lbs....he was definitely eating something. But he got no exercise. And his arthritis...at the age of 3...was already bothering him. I digress.

Bru came to us with a bag of the latest food Rich had been trying to get him to eat...Gravy Train. I took one look at that and pitched it out. I wasn't even going to transition. My Akita girl was eating Nutro Lamb & Rice (which was considered to be a good food at the time....1987) and that's what Bru would be eating. I gave him the exact food and quantity I was giving Kiku (90 lbs.). He scarfed it up and never looked back. He started getting good exercise with Keeks and the weight melted off. Within a year, Bru was a healthy 90 lb. pooch (one of those big-boned, low and long Labbies).

Anyway. Gravy Train. It may have been a better food than I'd given it credit for being, but I don't like gimmicks. I figure the aura of gravy was just to get people's money. No wonder Bru wasn't interested.

sweet, always glad to read positive stories. I always like to share the dogadvisor link on recalls...just for awareness of how scarey the industry can be.

Yeah...I've gotten a bunch of recall alerts lately. Always (so far) able to breathe a sigh or relief after reading.
