    Lunas first week...

Wow, Sleepless in Alameda. HAHA. Its been a very tiring week, and she is picking up so much, but then when you think you are doing it right, she poops on the floor. argh She hasn't figured out the cats, but they have stopped swatting at her.... they have figured out she is not a threat. There is another dog in the house, and he is an alpha male Weiner dog. they met once, and he kept snapping at her. I hate the failure feeling, she is only in the crate at night to sleep. If I have to leave her, I leave her in the kitchen with water, food, and poop shavings. There is a second crate in there for her but she does not use it, she would rather sleep on the floor or in her shavings...

Oh, she is adorable! You've only had her for a week and it sounds like a pretty typical situation. You are NOT failing at anything! And, she's so darn cute that it must make up for any other frustrations! Just look at that sweet little face!!! That picture of her in her little red crate? Omigosh!

Our older girl was not that enthralled with Henry when we first brought him home and spent much of their time together trying to pin him down to the floor by his neck so we limited their interaction for a few weeks until it wasn't Lark's first instinct to pin him down. Those photos of people's new puppy curling up next to their older dog? Yeah, we still haven't seen that here. Once Lark got over trying to pin him down first thing, it's been play, play, play non-stop when they're together. Kind of like doggy roller derby. Luna will soon be big enough that a snap from little weiner boy won't seem that bad and she'll learn what he can take. Puppies learn fast, even if their natural instinct is to think every one and every dog is as happy to see them as they are.

Thank you for the photos! They don't stay that little for long!

She is beautiful. It would be hard not to let her get away with murder lol. I see she has already declared the bed hers. Have fun they stay small for such a little time.

The only thing that seems unusual to me is you managed to get photos of her awake and being still. Enviable might be a better word.
