That's FELV not gleb lol
SO 3 of the 5 tested positive. The one was from the group of 4 all the same litter he was only one that was neg out of that litter and the other orphan kitten I put in with that litter she was neg. The rescue decided to put the 3 down and I will hold on to the other two and retest to make sure that it wasn't a false neg. From what I read it's not as easily transmitted as the Gelb so fingers crossed they stay neg. This is the first time I had a litter come up positive. I love fostering but I'm not sure I can go thru this again.
So so sorry to hear. Fingers crossed that the 2 stay negative.

Not sure if it is the same with cats and FIV, but I was watching a movie not too long ago where an HIV positive woman gave birth, and her daughter tested positive. And then it took like a year or so, but she eventually tested negative. Something about how the child can test positive for the antibodies, but not have the actual virus.

Poor babies I dont quite understand why they were automatically euthanized though. In alot of cases, FIV positive cats can live quite normal lives. Its so common for kittens to have false positives, why didnt they just retest in 6 months?
Sorry you had to go thru this
I think it's bc at least this is how they explained it to me is bc they don't have the room or place to quarantine them. It's not a huge rescue and most of the cats are fostered in houses with volunteers. Right now we have over 40 kittens housed and would put those at risk since it can be transmited. They were going to put the other ones down too since the we're exposed to it being with the litter but I said I would keep them for a month and retest but had no place to keep the other kittens separate plus I have 6 of my own cats I would have to worry about. I feel so guilty I couldn't take them. Now my cat is sick don't think it has anything to do with the kittens just a virus he picked up. He's at work with me today he hasn't eaten in two days just licked the gravy off his wet food. I knew something wasn't right this cat eats everthing. 103 fever Dr thinks a virus so he got antibiotics hopefully he will be back to his old lovey self soon.
