    Need good mojo

Got a phone call from doggy day care late afternoon that Murphy has vomited a big pile of undigested food and then lots of bile. We get him home and he has no interest in food. Normally I would be chill and let him settle and try some rice later. But then he vomited bile with what looks like a red/orange color. Off to the e-Vet we go. He vomited again in the waiting room with the same reddish color.

I highly doubt he got into into any rat poison or ate anything to cause an obstruction. He’s not that type of dog.

So, as I type this he’s getting some fluids cause the vet said he was very dehydrated. He’s getting an anti nausea shot and they are doing blood work. Vet said his stomach felt normal. Heart and lungs sound great. Didn’t seem to have any pain in pancreas area. We are electing to not do an X-ray right now to check for obstruction.

Any thoughts/ideas/other questions we should ask???

Thanks for reading and sharing your ideas!

The blood work should shed more light on it. All good mojo. These kinds of emergencies suck. It's good you're at the vet.

I always opt for an x-ray "just in case". Hope Murphy will be fine.

Sending good mojo for Murphy. My boys eat anything and are like magicians on how they can find stuff and make it disappear regardless of my efforts. We always have to xray.

I hope Murphy is feeling better.

Analysis of the vomit, pee and poop is warranted too. I'm sure your Vet will do that. Lots of good thoughts for you and Murphy.

Thanks everyone, we opted for no x-ray because Murphy seriously has never eaten anything he's not supposed to.

Blood work all came back normal and good last night. They gave him fluids and an anti-nausea shot.

I slept with Murphy on "his" bed last night, which is the guest bed with his favorite blanket covering the top. He slept fine thru the night, work up at 4:00a and panted pretty heavy for about 5 minutes but after some squeezes and reassuring pets, he fell back asleep until 7:30a. I needed to get up to take care of my own business, and Mayson our other dog. Murphy jumped out of bed and went the master bedroom and jumped on that bed with DH.

So no more vomit overnight. YAY! Heading to the store shortly to get some chicken to cook for him along with some rice. Crossing fingers he continues in the right direction!

Side Story, poor Mayson was so mad/crazy/anxious that I closed the door to the guest bedroom so Murphy and I could be quiet last night. I could hear Mayson on the other side of the door running back and forth and clawing at the carpet until DH came a got him. Mayson just wanted to be with his big brother!

I'm glad Murphy did OK overnight. We've been in for more than our share of abdominal x-rays, too, since Chase ate gravel and socks and had to get obstruction surgery for the socks.

We don't end up having to do chicken and rice too, too often but I never have chicken ready to get cooked and fed. It's always frozen stiff. To give myself a meal or 2 before I can cook some chicken I usually keep a couple of jars of baby food chicken or turkey on hand to mix with the rice. Just a thought.
