A small brag. I've taken to having Oban down stay when we meet people on bikes, running or a few even just walking. As well as ORV. I always did when meeting children, especially on bikes, now I do it for everyone. I think it reassures the people that he is not going to run at them, jump on them etc. Yesterday Oban did a nice recall from a hand signal, a swing to heel and a down stay as we met an oncoming fat biker. We got a nice "Thank You" and "Awesome dog." It was really nice of him to add that "awesome." Good Boy, Mr. Oban.

Wow! Are you available for on-site training here? Great job, Oban (and Snowshoe!)
Awesome work Oban. Mom good training
Nice! We always make ours come off the trail and do a sit-stay when bikers are going by and get a lot of "great dogs!" in return. Manners are always appreciated :-)

He's going to remind you to add "awesome" to the list next time you utter "dirty, stinkin, rotten, no-good" to describe him.
Good boy!!!!!!!!!!
Great work Team Oban!
I know kids are especially sensitive to a dog running up to them while walking or on a bike. It can be scary especially if the dog barks even if it is a sweet dog.

Good Boy Oban! That is a great feeling when people notice a well behaved dog. I now do the same with Cassie as we walk a public trail that is real popular with the fat tire mountain bikes. Cassie tends to want to run towards the approaching biker which scares them half to death because they don't want to run her over or worse have her grab onto a leg. I recall her to my side and have her down next to me (mainly because I figured it would take her longer to get up and jump in their way lol). After several weeks of doing this, she now seems to know what is coming and returns to my side when the bikers approach. Some now recognize her and stop to pet her for being a good girl.
LOL, since JackK's reply above it occurs to me some might think I spoke unkindly of the bicyclist we met. Fat bikes are mountain bikes with really big tires that have surged in popularity around here. They are used in winter here, on snow, sometimes quite a lot of snow. Hence the person On them is a fat biker.
