I'm pretty lucky, Sophie will basically sleep in until I tell her it's time to get up. I will get up with Brooks between 0630 and 0700 and let him out real quick, give him a quick snack and then back to bed for another hour or so........ Damn it's nice to be retired!

I woke up this morning at 4:30 to the dogs arguing about who got to be my little spoon. Biteyface and growls. There are worse ways to wake up.

(PS Thor won. With my help. He's always been my little spoon.)

I love that poster. I was thinking the other day that I have been retired for 15 years and I don't have any of the dogs that I had back then, so why do these two insist on getting me up a 6:00 in the morning! Did I do something wrong!

Indeed. And it's harder in winter when it's still pitch black outside. And cold. Yikes!

This morning, when Stormy wanted to get up and I couldn't even, I put her in the crate, closed the bedroom door, put in earplugs, and went to sleep in the guest room at the other end of the house. I may have lost some Pup Mom points, but did earn "Function as a Human" points.

These days I have to wake (10 year old) Mia up, she gets bed privileges most nights now, and she Loves to sleep in, and stay in bed even after we are up. And I do mean sleep in, like at least 8:30, sometimes even 10:00 am! I have fed and watered and exercised the others and she is still sleeping hahaha. I adore her.

My other dogs are great at waiting for one of us to arise, even the puppy, hardly ever does one wake us. They are quiet until we let them out, anywhere from 6 am to 9 am depending on our wildly erratic work schedules.
