Doggie daycare is the best thing ever

As we pulled into the DDC lot yesterday, Stormy started whining in excitement. Speaking of pulling- she lost all leash manners as she dragged me from the car to the building. Once we were inside, she ran around kissing all the employees, grabbed a toy, and happily went through the door to the play area with a worker, without a second look at me.

When I picked her up 9 hours later, she was still super ramped. I got her in the car- and she promptly laid down and started snoring before I'd even finished pulling out of the parking spot. When we got home, after a brief potty and water break, she climbed on the couch to resume sleeping. I had to wake her up for dinner! (Yes, I swear she's a lab.) Then she climbed back on the couch, and slept until bedtime- and then slept through the night.

She's been a bit of busy busy bee this week, so it was wonderful to have a bit of a break.

DH reports that this morning she is back to normal levels of energy, lol.

It sound like maybe she likes going to daycare just a little bit!

It makes me so happy that she loves it. By the time a somewhat-local DDC opened near us when we had Kimber, she was almost 4 years old and really wasn't into playing with other dogs anymore. When I'd pick her up from daycare, I'd hear she mostly just sat in the corner and watched the goings-on. We only went a few times because it wasn't worth the drive.

That's great! Are you taking her for a full day or half-day? I know some places offer both.

This place offers both. We're doing full day once a week, on the days that neither of us can get home to give her a mid-day break.

We take Lido to daycare 2x weekly (we'd take him more, if we could afford it!). He goes for 1/2 days (6 hours), and it's WONDERFUL!!! Lido likes going, and is more manageable afterwards. Heaven!!

How nice. I kinda miss those days. Daycare is not the best idea for performance puppies, unfortunately. Luckily Presto and Linus are BFFs and play a lot. Sure takes the pressure off of me some days!
