    Pork chomps

Has any one tried these for a chew toy. PetSmart recommended them and they do last quite a while. They are also non rawhide.

They look interesting, but there are quite a few negative reviews on Amazon. I am still looking for the perfect chew myself.

That type of toy is the only thing that interest her much. The Kongs are great as long as they are stuffed with some type of treat or food.

Same with my boy. He loves sticks and I am trying to find something to give him to deter his stick eating habit.

They're supposedly made in China...that makes me too nervous to consider them.

Lamb ears are wonderful (especially Shadow River brand on Amazon).

I love those lamb ears you recommended months ago. When he was a puppy, they would last about 10 minutes. Now, he gobbles them down in about 3 minutes! I wish they lasted longer, but he does love them.

I'm also on the hunt for a long-lasting (ie, more than 5 minutes) chewie. She gets bored quickly with antlers and things that don't give her some kind of reward. She really liked the rawhide bones but they upset her tummy (and it's hard to find ones not sourced in China.) I need something that safely breaks off in tiny, edible bits.

I’ve been giving Henry some Earth Animal No-Hide chews. At 7 months of age, he’s still good about chewing and not chomping them down. He can chew on it for about 30 minutes at a time over several sessions. Lark, on the other hand, is 6 years old and can make pretty quick work of one. They’re not inexpensive so you could try one and see how it works for you before loading up on something that your pup can demolish in no time. They’re available on Amazon if not at your local fancy schmancy dog food store.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Sue ~ I got all excited when I saw the earth animal chews....until I noticed where there's bromelain in them. Both of my guys vomited up some pain supplements I'd tried with them a while back...the only unknown ingredient in the supps was bromelain, nothing else had ever caused vomiting. Then I saw some reviews stating vomiting/diarrhea. I figured that these would fall into the category of "well, what did you expect?" if I bought them for my guys. Despite the price, the salmon really intrigued me. Sorry, pups, not happening.

But I'm looking at the Nature Gnaws...hadn't seen those before. Oh, yum....tripe. I gave Sunnie and the puppies tripe way back when...think I'm going to check these out. Still looking at all of the varieties now...but Amazon will need to say "thank you" to you for catching my attention. (Tripe: good thing the dogs have dedicated washable mats to chew things on...that's some nasty smelling stuff....figure the chews won't be any different than the canned variety.)

for chews we give ours frozen duck feet, and the occasional duck neck/turkey neck (the turkey necks are a once a month meal replacement)

They are oretty inexpensive at our feed store ($5.99 for a 3lb bag)
