I put my name . address and phone number. I do not put the dog's name because I worry that if someone finds them and wants to keep them they have their name. Just a quirk I guess.
I'm not sure if this has been discussed before...but what information does everyone put on their dog(s) tags?
What should not be put on a tag?
Would love to hear thoughts!

I found a Rottweiler a few months ago just running through the neighborhood. His tag had his name and 2 phone numbers. I was able to contact the owner. I would never think to keep a dog, but you never know these days.
Bubba's tag says his name on the front and on the back it says "Not all who wander are lost...but if I am please call [insert my number]"

I have the dog's name, my name, our address and cell phone number. They also wear a collar with their name and my cell phone number embroidered on it. We also always stay at the same place at the beach so I have tags for the beach with our local address on it also, since it's out of state. They're also microchipped. I just want as much info on there as I can to bring my pups back to me and hope that the person finding them is a good person, not a dog napper. And you didn't ask, but I particularly like boomerang collar tags because they do not hang down to get caught on anything. Boomerang Tags

I bought a tag from "Tagsforhope" for Zeke. The tag looks just like your home state drivers license. On the front I have our home number, on the back our cell numbers. Full address too. Like you, I hope if Zeke should wander away someone would find him, and us. I also have a waterproof reflective collar that has Zeke's name and the home phone number on it. I've posted some photos of the these below. (Not going to broadcast the personal over the net.)
FWIW, the license tag has a free lifetime replacement warranty and part of the money goes toward helping shelter dogs.

On all of our dogs' ID tags, I have their names on the front and mine and my husband's cell phone numbers on the back. Our little terriers (um, terrors, lol) dogs found an escape route under our fence one day, and went on an excursion...The mail lady, bless her sweet heart, stopped and caught the sweet one of the pair, called me, and we got them back in 5 minutes. As a former foster, I can't emphasize enough the need to have ID tags on your dog's collar, as well as having the dog microchipped - and registering the chip (and keeping the information up to date)!

Another reason I like to have my dogs' names on their tags may sound a little silly but sometimes I know a dog's name and I don't know the owner's name. Don't you have neighbors you know by their dog? Hi (Hank's Mom)! So if I find a dog that is wearing a name tag that has its name, I might know where it lives even if I don't know the owner's name.
