I've been a lab parent for five years!

Five years ago today we picked up an 8 week old Thor from his breeder. Thor is my first lab, though he is definitely not my first dog. I always wanted a lab and finally as a responsible adult with budget to spend on a good breeder, I found Thor. I have loved every dog I've ever had, but there is something so special about labs and I'm so glad that Thor (and Barley) have helped me learn that. I also found this board while we were waiting to bring Thor home. Thank you for all of the great knowledge that got me through the puppy stage and helped Thor become the wonderful adult he is today.

Awwwww! Baby Thor was so stinkin' cute!!!!!!! I've been a Lab parent for over 34 years now, and I'll have a Lab in my home as long as physically possible.

Ha! I was so not on board with 'Thor' but my husband loved it. There were a lot of names we both liked (actually, Barley was my first choice!) but he really really wanted a Thor. I told him it sounded like an 8 year old kid named him after going to the movies. We were still discussing on our way to pick him up - we had a few names we liked and I am of the firm belief that dogs help name themselves so I wanted to see our boy's personality before committing to a name. But then we walked into the breeder's house and from around the corner came running four puppies. It was our boy and his three sisters (it was a small litter). The three girls were all pulling on his collar and he was dragging them all along. He was bigger and blonder and stronger than his litter mates, and I remember turning to my husband and saying "dammit, he's a Thor".
