Physically, great. Mentally, bored and confused. She wants to run and jump and play, and is miserable in her crate.
How's your little girl doing? We will be facing this maybe June or so with Amber. So much controversy on the best time to spay. Before they go into heat, after they've had one heat. Our vet favors doing it before she has her first heat.

Poor thing. How long do you think she’ll be in her crate?
Does she also have the cone of shame?
Hoping these next few days go by quickly for you guys!

Stormy don't worry you'll be able to run and play in no time!!!
It’s pretty awful, guys! The vet said quiet until sutures come out 10-14 days after the surgery. She’s used to free reign while we’re home; she’s never taken to the crate and she’s well-behaved. But she’s also allowed on the couches and chairs and is used to hopping on them as desired. No hopping, so 100% supervision. Open concept homes=no doors to close off rooms! She’s very confused as to why we now insist she not jump on stuff.
And she must not be hurting much (yay!) because her energy level is normal. Walks around the house aren’t cutting it. So far today, we’ve done frozen Kong, a Nina Ottosen puzzle, wobble Kong and tug a jug. We’ve played tug.
You know, it reminds me of the early puppy days, before we could take her in lots of public places. So hard to get the energy out. I feel bad for her.

Oh poor Stormy. Well at least you are trying to keep her occupied. Which Nina Ottosen puzzle do you use with her?
I know I mentioned it before, but this has become one of Diggity’s (and my) favorite chew toy. It works really well with stuffing zuke’s mini treats or anything else that is small and then plugging the ends with something bigger. It keeps him occupied longer than anything else I have found and it is a soft chewy rubber, 100% approved and recommended by his dental vet.

Ordered! Thank you.
We’re letting her out of the crate more because she just hates it. Right now she’s napping next to me. I think the recovery must actually be taking some effort because she’s napping more than usual. But her incision looks good, so I’m hopeful the healing is going well!

glad surgery went well, best of luck with recovery
yeah i don't let that happen anymore. i had a vet send two fosters home with no cones cuz "girls rarely bother their incision". I was off to the e-vet at 3am with two girls who'd ripped out their incision. Since then, if i can't watch them they wear a cone until i have had a few days to assess how that particular dog will behave.

Here is another good chew toy that takes Diggity awhile to get through. I stuff a mozarella cheese stick in it and make sure it is really wedged in. I kind of fold it over and push it as far in there as I can. He licks and chews the heck out of this toy. Again, another extremely safe chew toy that his dental vet loves.
