    Happy 6 months, Stormy!

She's all ears and legs, these days (with a healthy helping of drool. I joke it's her ancestral Newfie.)

Even 6 days into her post-spay captivity, she is a sweetheart. She loves to cuddle with us, and every day she finds new ways to be cute. I mentioned last week she's started tunneling under the blankets at night. Sometimes she hangs out under the blankets (I'm assuming her survival instinct would have her push her head out if she were suffocating), and other times she turns around and ends up with her head out of the blanket, so she can lay her head next to mine. The other night she played the role of Big Spoon to me, with her belly and chest up against my back and her paw draped nonchalantly over my shoulder. She's also becoming a blanket ninja, kicking it around to suit her. Now I know how she tucked herself in a few weeks ago! This morning, she tunneled around until the blanket was wrapped around her, including her head, like a swaddled infant. I nearly died from the cuteness.

Her barking is much better, but it's a constant reinforcement. She's vocal, lol. Walking on leash is another work in progress. But she's quick with tricks and is clever. When we play with the Nina Ottosen puzzles, I have to intercede to keep her picking it up and shaking the pieces loose.

Happy 1/2 birthday to our little monster!

Such a pretty girly and those cuddlings and blanket burrowing habits are some I hope my future dog (or one of my future dog) has! LOVE that. (Rocky was always "near" but not touching and i haven't had a blanket burrower!)

    Blanket burrower, that’s too cute.
Kendal use to get under the blankets in the winter time as well.

So cute! Our dogs don't sleep in our bed because, well, dirt. I can not envision climbing into a bed full of dirt and dog hair every night. No amount of doing laundry could make me want to do it. Your tales of Stormy the blanket ninja make me want to try it though... but not that much! Happy Half, Stormy!

So awesome! She sounds perfect with her cuddly ways! Does she sleep through the night on your bed?

I have started to keep Diggity out of his crate for about a little bit before “lights out” and into his at night. He’s such a rough-and-tumble boy. Jumps all over the bed and steps on me and wags and pants and smiles and is all over-the-top excited. Some of it is the newness of being out of his crate. Finally he settles down (sort of) but I still don’t trust him to be out of his crate all night. And he still sleeps incredibly well inside his crate, so for now, that is where he’ll sleep. But, I look forward to the day when he will cuddle up and sleep nicely on the bed.

She sleeps much better in the bed than she does in the crate. We've struggled with the crate since Day 1- she Does Not Like It!- and while things improved, as soon as she wakes up she wants out. During the night, that results in her whimpering for a potty break, usually around 3 am. I get the sense now that she still wakes up at 3 am, but it suffices to change positions and snuggle in to us. (I woke up at some point last night to gentle nibbling on my toes- and it wasn't DH).
