Worst time of the year for walking.....

The trails and paths are still fairly muddy and wet which makes for a smelly and dirty dog.....

The sidewalk walk snow thaw just shows you all of the dog messes that people never cleaned up and the garbage that accumulated all winter.

It's nice to be back outside but I hate the mess. Can't wait for a month or so when things dry up and the garbage gets cleaned up.....
    Thanks Everyone!!

Muddy season here too, in the yard! The new lot has several low spots, which we hope to level off, that Katie loves to wade through. Plus the area at the gate. Got to figure out some type of ground cover/protection because the more we use it, the worse it gets.

Did an outside the fence cleanup. Not to disrespect pigs, but some people are pigs. It doesn't help that it's a corner lot with a stop sign; people just toss out their trash.

Finally can see the grass so the post snow poop cleanup was done. Not near as bad as I thought. Then again, I haven't really scoured the lot, LOL.

Yes. It's the time of year we try to head out early. Not to beat the heat but to beat the thaw. It was already up to -1C at 6:30, think we're going to be wet and muddy this morning. I'm expecting the inside of my car is going to pay a price for Oban wearing a harness now, instead of his collar.

We walked on a snowmobile trail yesteday that still had lots of snow on it, wished I had taken my skiis.

Fran ~ Thought of your post just now when I was out back, surveying my domain. This is, by far, the wettest-seeming winter we've had in the 35 years we've been here. I've had horrible water build-up during snows before but nothing like we have right now. The entire back half of the yard is soft...with standing water in previously OK places as well as in the normal swampy area. The one previously OK place stinks to high heaven....there's gray mud (the decaying vegetation kind) soup. I have no idea what we're going to do. It'll most likely just dry up on its own and be its normal seriously dry area come summertime....but it has me thinking rain garden (which would normally make no sense there and would likely not be happy in the long run).

When I first went out and got closer to the back, I thought maybe the sewer line had broken. That bad.

The dogs haven't been back there for a while and it's going to be off-limits for a good while longer. This puts our normal (dreaded) mud season to shame.

This is why spring is my least favourite season... after winter. A lot of rain and a lot of mud. The bugs going back into life. It's getting warm, but not warm enough for swimming.

Although, knock on wood, this year it's been fairly dry.
