Sending prayers that she is wrong❤️❤️❤️
Picked out a new conventional vet since ours retired. She is strongly slanted towards holistic medicine and her dog recently died of cancer. She also does acupuncture.
Took Zo in today for her annual and the vet made noises about her abdomen. Did an x-ray and she thinks her spleen is enlarged and Zo has hemangiosarcoma (cancer of the blood vessels). We're getting an ultrasound on Monday. I've already contacted our oncologist.
I need your mojo please. Please please hope that this vet is completely incompetent. Four for four is a little much.

Oh no...lots of mojo headed your way. That sounds like something that would have been announcing itself and not waiting for a regular appointment to make itself known. All good thoughts!!!

Doesn't it though? She saw her holistic vet exactly one month ago. I do see abdomenal distention but Nikki gets that when she's gassy and Zo has been farting.
What I don't get is that her behavior is perfectly normal. She's eating everything as fast as she can get it down. When Argos was struggling, he would get lethargic, eat more slowly and then not at all. But it was back and forth. This I don't get. Maybe it's just splenic cancer. That would be so much more straightforward.
Oh no. Mojo heading your way.

Fingers crossed the vet was wrong.

Hoping the vet is wrong, but hemangiosarcoma of the spleen is rather famous for not being caught until it causes the spleen to rupture. The back and forth of milder symptoms can be from minor bleeds but once a big one happens it is usually too late. I know quite a few people who have lost dogs to hemangiosarcoma of the spleen and in most cases the dog appeared fine up until a couple hours before they lost them.
Again, hoping the vet is wrong. Jolie had a large splenic tumor that never ruptured and that they don't think was hemangiosarcoma (the only way to know for sure would have been a biopsy which we didn't do because of her age and other issues). It was found by the vet palpating during a regular exam. She never showed signs of it spreading to other organs which is why we don't think it was actually cancer. Had she been in better health overall when it was diagnosed, we might have tried having her spleen removed, but she also had laryngeal paralysis and significant hind end mobility issues so we didn't want to put her through it. Eventually she stopped eating - we think the tumor had grown large enough it was blocking her stomach and we let her go.
