    Zo is fine!!

    Thank you all so much!!

Ultrasound guy didn't think her spleen was enlarged at all! She's very healthy for an 11 year old. Liver looks a little rough so maybe test for Cushings but I have to say that it sounded a bit like the vet who called was trying to justify something.

The first vet was so certain. Before we left the appointment on Friday, she was talking about removing Zo's spleen and getting her on mushrooms, going on and on about bleeds. She ended with, "I know this isn't the news you wanted when you came in today." Absolutely certain. I think that the vet who called with the results was a little unnerved by the whole thing. She made it clear that she had spoken with the first vet who is not in today. I think we're all kind of sitting around wondering what just happened.

One thing I did find out though is that many people online recommend annual ultrasounds so I think we'll do that. Remove the uncertainty. And we have a baseline now so there's that.

I just lost it over the weekend. Oh well. Good cry anyway.

Great news! We did an ultrasound on Molly back in October. She is 12 and her annual senior blood panel showed a huge jump in her liver values. Rather than do a liver-specific test first, I opted for the ultrasound because I wanted as much visual on as many organs as they could get. All is okay but her liver showed a lot of “mottling” whatever that means. My vet said it’s “old girl” liver. Anyway, she has been on Denamarin since then to see if it helps her liver function. Hoping to get those follow-up results tomorrow.

I'm trying out another vet there with Nikki on Wednesday. She's the one who called. Fecal test. I'll see where that goes but I like her quite a bit. Very professional.
