    Linus and Sam the "life-dogs"

As I was throwing the ball from the bank of the river for the boys earlier today, I noticed two swimmers in wet suits I'm assuming doing open water swim practice for triathalons. The dogs noticed them and ignored them for a moment, but then the people stood up and the dogs went right in and swam toward the people despite my protests.

I knew there was nothing I could do so I said, "Hey, watch out for the dogs! They are friendly but I think they want to say hi!" The people were not afraid, but the one woman was walking away as these two 100 lb dogs are swimming right at her. Eventually Sam turns around to come back to the beach, but Linus grabs her lower arm in his mouth and tries dragging her to shore!

For a moment, I was like "Oh sh!t!" but then she walks calmly toward the shore with her arm in his mouth and as soon as his feet are touching, he lets go and is all excited like he just landed the biggest fish EVER! The woman said she has a Newfoundland who "rescues" people from the water, and so she thought she'd humor Linus by allowing him to "save her life".

I got so lucky that she didn't freak out and that the dogs didn't try climbing onto her and hurt her. It was so bizarre, and luckily it turned out well. I wish I had it on video for you all to see. And I guess now I know how they'd react to swimmers!

Linus was trying to be a life saver. Good pup. You are fortunate that she understood and let Linus complete his mission. Good pup.

Alright Linus! What a sweet boy worrying about others. Good to know the lady took it in stride as there are some that wouldn't of handled the "help" Linus was trying to give.
