My guess is that the first pup needs pancreatic enzymes...I knew someone whose dog would have been written up just like that but the enzymes fixed him without any issues going forward. Something about that one touches my heart.

I was thinking the same as this is how I suspect that Georgia came our way. She has had two pancreas attacks since we adopted her. Both times required an overnight at the Vets. We basically switched her to low fat food and are very careful what kind of treats or snacks we give her and she is fine.
    Thanks Everyone!!

The site I submitted to was lab-rescue dot ca. Was that who you were dealing with?
Both. initially i was looking mostly at rescue and at breeder placement (non puppy). i`m still open to rescue but not seeing much even after a year of looking (note that I am pretty picky), so looking at breeders for either puppy or older placement now.

yes that`s the one. I wasn't impressed. I volunteered with a number of rescues and get they are busy but they are certainly in no rush to process applications and quick to just dump applicants. unless something in my app turned them off? they say they contact you only if the application is going to be considered for approval (passes first test and moves on to more screening).

These two are available at our local rescue. Might be a bit of a road trip for you though.

I thought so to. Good luck! We adopted Lucy (foster failures) and have fostered a couple of times for them.

Wow those two are cuties! MightyThor and I must have been looking at the same lab rescues in the bay area. I was hoping to adopt a lab, wasn't interested in the puppy stage given my work commitments at the time, but due to needing to put down large deposits and just really difficult requirements, I ended up going with a breeder for Bubba. I definitely get it, wanting to find a committed home for the dog, but at the same time they would be able to save so many more dogs if they were able to adopt out the dogs they had quicker. We will be adopting for our next lab, and plan to just know it will take time and will most likely be frustrating! We've been loving fostering in the meantime.

Hubby and I were looking or a lab to adopt and didn't seem to have any luck, filled out applications and didn't hear back from anyone. Today we "adopted"(bought) and little wiggly wrinkley bundle of yellow fuzz, 4 week old baby girl Labrador. The breeder was highly recommended to us, this is the first yellow we will have, but this is going to be a long wait.
