Because Oban had just gone off leash and held a Down/Stay for over 5 minutes while I crept as close as I could to take pictures. Oban is a GOOD BOY. Good, good boy.
There were two, way, way up high in a tree. At first I thought they were turkeys.
Feathers ruffled. Maybe worried about me.
Of course when the first one finally did fly I had the camera on the second one but I managed to catch this.
Good Boy Oban.
Good boy, Oban. (with that long a stay, he's lucky the vultures didn't think he was vulnerable)
If the sun was out, those ruffled feathers may have been sunning/drying of wings. I've seen vultures and cormorants do this quite often.

Good boy, Oban.
Good boy, Oban. When Kendal would see them he’d run around the yard looking up and barking at them. Guess he was making sure they knew he wasn’t suitable fodder for them.
Turkey vultures aren’t likely to win any beauty contest, but they are so wonderful to watch soaring in the sky. Well actually looking at the closeups they are cute in a weird sort of way.
Good boy Oban! And i agree they are a beautiful bird in flight and kinda cute too with the high winds we have been having it is so cool to just sit and watch them float on air

What a good boy Oban
You were actually lucky that the vulture wasn't truly worried about your presence...they vomit when scared, to ward off enemies. That would be especially horrible, coming down from above.
What a great stay and hold Oban. And what a great trainer.
Good photos, my favourites are the close-up and holding its wings out to get warmed up.
