    Dog Poop in Your Compost?

How do you dispose of dog poop? A neighbour was aghast to hear I put it in the compost. My 5' x 8' x 5' high compost. Oban does most of his poops on our walks so there isn't much in our yard. And OH does most of the lawn work and he digs a hole in back, under the cedars, and buries it. Still, a bit goes in. I read it's fine if your dog is healthy. I know more about what goes into and out of Oban than any commercial or farmer poop that might go into fertilizer. Not to mention human poop spread on fields. Would you never again accept my veggies?

We used to have a 4 compartment compost pile...went from one compartment to another to get turned/aged, and we used it from the 4th compartment. I never used dog poop in ours. I never thought to use dog poop in ours so that might be why I didn't research it.

That might also be why I'm thinking, "Ewwww…." right now.

Then again, I'm reading this right on the heels of reading an article about composting human bodies.

Immediate reactions...not well thought out or researched at all.

But I honestly don't think I'd be using poop if we still had a compost pile...and I know I don't want to be using anyone's body for my mulch. (ashes, please)
