    Yucky infections!!

Hello everyone! I'm new to this thread and while I'm getting the hang of things I would really like to ask a question about my baby Zoe, she's a year and a half old black lab and we took her to the vet to get an ear infection checked and she also turned out to have a skin infection! Anyways does anyone have any good home remedies for her? Please and thanks!

    Hello and Welcome!

Ear infections can be tricky. Be sure to clean ears every week and after every swim. There are a variety of solutions used by the members here. You can use the search feature at the top of the page to find them. I hesitate to try to remember them all and get something wrong. Have not had to deal with skin infection. What type of infection is it, i.e., what is the cause? Is it bacterial, yeast?

    Sending good thoughts.

Mix a solution of 1 cup of Water, 2 cups of Vinegar and 1 tablespoon of Rubbing Alcohol. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and squirt it onto the outside of the ear canal once or twice per week, regularly. But for now clean the ear like twice a day to fight the ear infection.

(If your dog isn't swimming alot you can dilute the solution with more water)

Bacons ears are cleaned usually every other day. This keeps infections at bay for us. For the skin infection, have you tested for allergies? Sometimes skin problems are actually allergies in dogs. My 1st dog was highly allergic and got almost constant staph infections on her skin before we got the allergies under control.

I've read that it is a good idea to clean or check Labs' ears every day. Plans to put that in our daily ritual with our new pup. As we did with our last two pups. The way the Lab ears lay, definitely can form bacteria real fast.
