I took the Volhard test with me on puppy picking day. We'd been to see them a couple of times but waited till 8 weeks and did the tests with the breeder. We gave up. They were all ( 4 boys) scoring about the same. But to just watch them play and tumble around showed far more obvious differences. I went with what a saw in their play.

I don't use paypal for my puppies. Check for a deposit. Cash upon pick-up unless previously arranged.
You may want to ask the breeder to pick your puppy for you. Some breeders just let the people pick who they want at 4 weeks and that's that. When you visit, the thing is that the pups aren't going to be showing you their real personality. Sometimes they'll be sleepy, sometimes grumpy, the breeder will know the most as they live with the pups.

been thinking of names which is always fun and am leaning towards Gnocci. my favorite italian pasta when done right. my wife says whatever name we choose it has to sound good with doggy at the end...chili doggy, gnocci doggy, chili and gnocci....
any name ideas?
Gnocchi makes my tongue feel too wide for my mouth. Ziti, maybe? Cavatelli/Telly?
How about a hot dog theme? Chili Dog....Coney Dog (Detroit, not Coney Island)...Corn Dog???
Peppers? Chili....Ancho....Diablo? Chili and Diablo?
And now I'm in the mood for either hot dogs or pasta...

Our deposit was check, by mail for the last 2 labs we bought.
When we picked Brandy it was kind of hard, at 5 weeks they all looked about the same, weighed about the same, they were all sleepy and weren't moving around much. On pick up day all three were ready to rumble. I picked each one up for a check over, I wanted one I could cuddle while they were still babies! Out of the 3, Brandy was the chunkiest, more lively and her facial expressions were just like her daddy. So I knew I just had to have her, she was the one, after a week, i know I have the right pup. Took her to our vet, she says she's 100% sound, so hopefully we did A-okay this time around.

I ended up paying cash for deposit with handwritten receipt covering everything I thought it should say and signed. breeder was happy I was from close by as he mentioned getting offers from out of state he didnt feel comfortable with...idk. after seeing pups/and parents Im comfortable with everything so far. probably use paypal for final payment...for some reason breeder was pushing for paypal, but I have a new pphone and forget to setup paypail on it it/password. I dont think this breeder is champion/show breeder...but to me he loves his labs alot and uses them to hunt so that goes along way with me for peace of mind. plus the price is 25% of what I paid for chili...so money isnt an issue of worry.
what is a puppy shot/vaccine schedule? or what should I receive from breeder when take home puppy? its been so long with chili forget...think I got email with shot records????
The pup should come with several starter vaccinations, which would dictate which one and when for what you'll do when the pup comes home. Id check with the breeder to see if they have a recommended schedule. Anne (Windycanyon) sent me home with her schedule for Brooks.
