I just set ours up (early FedEx delivery) and Dan loves it. It smells like fish. (I bought a raincoat decades ago that smelled like this when it got wet....yikes....and the smell wouldn't wash out. I donated the coat. I digress....) I kept waiting for him to lift a leg (he never does this inappropriately but the smell was obviously just so exciting). Dan kept going in and out....bunching up the soft flat bed I got to go in there. It'll stay in the family room until they're both comfortable with it and then plan to put it up in Bob's bedroom for Sunnie to hide out in when she's super stressed (we'll still gate it off to keep Dan off the bed).

Bought for Sunnie. Meant for Sunnie.

Guess which dog has shown absolutely no interest in it....not even the smell. Need a hint?

    Rhymes with funny.

    Danged dog.

Glad to hear someone else has tried one of them. Amber's doesn't get here until Wednesday so I'm hoping it doesn't smell like fish!

It's not stinking up the room...you have to have your nose on the fabric to smell it. (unlike that raincoat...phew....)

So much for the reviews that said a crate-stressed dog would accept this.

I'd had ours out in the family room ever since we got it....Dan slept in it from time to time and Sunnie ignored it. We had a thunderstorm today so I took it up into Bob's bedroom (Sunnie's safe zone and off-limits since they haven't been allowed on beds) and coaxed her into it. Half hour storm...not the most severe and not directly overhead. I go to fetch her and find a thoroughly soaked comfy pad and the bottom of the crate wet, too. Saliva. Apparently, she sat there and fear-drooled the entire time. I'd poked my head into the room a couple of times and she seemed OK (admittedly, the room was dark because I'd closed the curtains for her).

I'll fold it up and put it away for if/when we need something quick to corral Dan (instead of setting up the big metal crate that is stored in the basement).

    Better luck headed your way!

Poor Sunnie. My daughter's dog was never happy when there was a thunderstorm or fireworks but her favored hiding spots were in a closet or in a bathroom with no windows. At least if she drooled or peed in the bathroom it was easy to clean up.

That was a reaction to the pen. Sunnie's normal thunderstorm/fireworks reaction is just nervous looking and sometimes pacing...never drooling or shaking. It took her a good half hour to stop shaking and she was still panting up to the time when I fed them 15 minutes ago.

Boy, I'll bet the shelter was glad to have someone claim her....

    Update on Playpen

Amber has now been sleeping like a baby in her playpen overnight since we got it for her. Her comfy bed fits nicely in it and I love knowing she can stretch out more than she could in her crate. Knock on wood she has not been much of a bed, etc. destroyer but we are with her the biggest part of the time.
