Wow! Time does fly. I knew it was a cross country trip for you to pick him up, but didn't realize all the drive time as well as the flight. What a whirl wind trip to pick up Brooks. As others have said, he was such a cute puppy and now such a handsome dog.

Happy Gotcha Day Brooks!
His travel woes were testing you to see if you were the one who could handle an energetic, smart and previous baby. You passed and the results and conquests you both have made are awesome.

What fun to read your saga! I didn't realize he'd cried so much at the start of your trip. Nothing like trying to stay in a hotel and get some sleep with a screaming puppy for company! Your year has been action packed. Is Brooks the first lab you've really trained as extensively as you have him? An adorable puppy who has become a very handsome man!

Brooks is the first I started training for performance work from Day 1. When I first got Bruce and started just doing general training with him I soon realized what a special boy he was. He was a true to type biddable and eager to please Labrador. I took a CGC class with Him, and he passed the test when he was only 6 months old. I started doing Rally with Bruce when he was 9 months old, and started formal field training when he was 14 months old. I absolutely LOVED working with Bruce, and I knew when I lost him I would need to find another dog to continue this journey with.
It's so funny how fate works sometimes. As a member of this board I had seen Anne's dogs and always thought how much I liked them, and that maybe one day if I was looking for a puppy I would like to have one of her dogs. Even after losing Bruce, I didn't think it would be possible, as I'd only seen her breed blacks and chocolates. Somehow when I'd almost given up on finding the right dog, Anne had Brooks' litter with the yellow boys. Sometimes I just think it was a matter of fate that all the things happened that led me to getting Brooks. Not a day goes by that I don't think about Bruce, and even shed a tear or two. But I also can't help but smile at the thought of Bruce looking down and seeing how happy I am, and just how much I love Brooks. I sure Bruce is happy for me, and also very happy for Brooks.
